Step One: Relaxation - To achieve an out-of-body experience, it is important to be deeply relaxed. Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down and take a few deep breaths to calm your mind and body. Focus on releasing any tension and stress you may be holding in your muscles.

Step Two: Become Quiet and Focus Your Mind - After achieving a relaxed state, it's important to quiet your mind and focus on a single thought or image. Focusing on the sensation of your breath or the image of a peaceful scene in your mind.

Step Three: Wander on the Edge of Consciousness - As you focus on your breath or a peaceful scene, you may begin to feel a sense of lightness and detachment from your body. Allow yourself to slip into a state of drowsiness and wander on the edge of consciousness.

Step Four: Visualize an Object - Once you are in a state of drowsiness, visualize an object in your mind's eye. It can be anything that is easy for you to visualize, such as a ball or a flower.

Step Five: Sway the Object a Small Amount - After visualizing the object, imagine that it is swaying back and forth. Try to feel the motion of the object in your mind's eye and feel as if you are controlling its movement.

Step Six: Increase the Amount of Swaying - As you become more comfortable with swaying the object, try to increase the amount of movement. Imagine the object swaying more vigorously, and try to feel the motion as vividly as possible.

Step Seven: Sway Opposite to the Object - Once you have mastered swaying the object in one direction, try swaying it in the opposite direction. Peterson suggests imagining that the object is attached to a string and that you are controlling the movement of the string.

Step Eight: Grab the Object and Let It Pull You Out - After swaying the object in both directions, try to grab the object and let it pull you out of your body. Visualize yourself being pulled out of your body by the object, and feel the sensation of floating or flying.

These steps can be used as a guide to help you achieve an out-of-body experience. It's important to keep in mind that everyone's experience is unique and may not follow these steps exactly. The key is to remain open and receptive to the experience and to allow it to unfold naturally.
