Updated: Oct 1, 2024. Here’s the deal: When your chakras are spinning properly, you’re golden! You feel healthy, happy, and life just flows. But when one gets blocked, it’s like a traffic jam on your inner energy highway. And trust me, no one enjoys traffic—especially in the energetic realm. When a chakra is blocked or out of balance, it can mess with your emotions, leave you feeling sluggish, or even lead to physical issues. It’s like having a clogged toilet. And nobody loves a clogged toilet. It’s messy, uncomfortable, and honestly, just a drag. When your energy isn’t flowing properly, the same thing happens to your mood, your health, and even your thoughts.

So, let’s break these down in a fun and simple way.

  1. Root Chakra (aka "The Grounder"): Located at the base of your spine, this guy’s responsible for helping you feel secure and grounded—think of it like your energetic anchor. When it’s in balance, you feel stable, like you could conquer the world (or at least your to-do list). But when it’s blocked, hello, anxiety! It’s like walking on shaky ground. So, imagine you're planting your feet firmly into the Earth, and let that red energy fill you with strength. Feeling off? Try standing barefoot on grass or hugging a tree. No joke. It works.
  2. Sacral Chakra (aka "The Artist"): Right below your belly button, this chakra is the hub of your creativity, pleasure, and emotions. When it’s spinning freely, you're basically channeling your inner Aphrodite—full of passion and creativity. But when it’s blocked, your creativity feels dry, and let’s be honest, Netflix becomes your main hobby. If you're feeling creatively stuck, try dancing like nobody's watching or take a bubble bath and imagine your orange energy flowing freely again.
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (aka "The Boss"): This one’s located in your upper abdomen and is all about your confidence and personal power. When it’s in balance, you’re unstoppable—like, “I am woman, hear me roar” vibes. But when it's blocked, you're suddenly questioning everything and feeling like a victim of life’s circumstances. Try some core-strengthening exercises or wear something yellow (yes, the color yellow helps!) to reignite your inner fire.
  4. Heart Chakra (aka "The Love Machine"): Situated in the center of your chest, the heart chakra is all about love, compassion, and connection. It’s the big hug your soul needs. When it’s open, you feel the love flowing in and out, like a Hallmark movie on steroids. But when it’s blocked, oh boy, cue the heartbreak, jealousy, and all those tough emotions. Open it up by practicing gratitude or hugging someone (or yourself!). Wear some green, and boom—love is in the air again.
  5. Throat Chakra (aka "The Speaker"): Right at your throat, this chakra is your communication HQ. When it’s balanced, you speak your truth loud and clear (and with confidence, baby!). But when it’s blocked, you might feel like you’re walking on eggshells or worse, you’ll say something and immediately regret it (hello, foot in mouth!). Get this baby spinning again by singing, chanting, or even just writing down your thoughts. It’s time to get that voice heard!
  6. Third Eye Chakra (aka "The Intuitive Guru"): Located between your eyebrows, this is your center of intuition. When it’s clear, you trust your gut, see the bigger picture, and have those "aha!" moments. But when it’s blocked, you might feel lost, disconnected from your inner voice, and struggle to make decisions. You know that "why did I do that?" feeling? Yeah, that's a third-eye issue. To balance it, try meditating and focusing on the color indigo. Or simply stare at the sky and let your imagination run wild.
  7. Crown Chakra (aka "The Enlightened One"): This one sits at the top of your head and is your connection to the universe. It’s like having Wi-Fi that links you to the cosmos. When it’s aligned, you feel at peace with everything, knowing you’re part of something greater. But when it’s blocked, you might feel isolated or lost. To open this up, imagine a glowing white or violet light streaming down from the cosmos and flooding your entire body with bliss.

How Do Chakras Get Clogged?

Okay, so let’s talk about how these energy wheels get all jammed up. Just like the toilet metaphor (yes, I’m sticking with it), life’s stressors, negative thoughts, old beliefs, or even physical habits can block or slow down the flow of energy. Whether it’s emotional baggage, physical tension, or just the chaos of everyday life, your chakras can become misaligned. But don’t worry—no need to call the energetic plumber. With a little intention and care, you can unblock those babies yourself!

Tips and Tricks to Keep Your Chakras Flowing

So, what can we do to keep those chakras clear and our energy flowing like a magical river of light? Here are a few simple techniques to try:

  1. Meditation: Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and visualize each chakra as a spinning ball of vibrant color. Start from the base and work your way up. Imagine each chakra glowing brightly and spinning freely. Pro tip: Use affirmations as you focus on each chakra. For example, for the root chakra, you might say, “I am safe, grounded, and secure.”
  2. Dance It Out: Yes, I’m serious! Moving your body helps shake up stuck energy. Throw on your favorite song and let your body move however it wants. Imagine the energy swirling through each chakra as you dance. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional or you’re just vibing in your living room—just have fun with it!
  3. Crystals: Use crystals to balance specific chakras. For example, rose quartz is great for the heart chakra, while citrine works wonders for your solar plexus. Place them on your body during meditation, or carry them with you throughout the day.
  4. Sound Healing: The vibrations from sound healing can help balance your chakras. Use singing bowls, tuning forks, or even just chant the corresponding sound for each chakra. For example, the sound “Om” can help open your crown chakra and connect you to that higher spiritual energy.
  5. Energy Healing: Reiki or energy healing is another fantastic way to cleanse your chakras. What Happens When Chakras Are Aligned?

When your chakras are balanced, it’s like every part of your life suddenly clicks into place. You’ll notice you feel more confident, connected, and grounded. You’re able to express yourself freely, love openly, and take action without hesitation. Basically, you’re in the zone, and life feels way more fun and exciting.

To keep things moving smoothly, make chakra work part of your self-care routine. You don’t have to do a deep dive every day, but just check in with yourself regularly. Notice if you’re feeling off in a certain area of your life and trace it back to the related chakra. Give it a little extra love and attention, and boom—back to balance! You got this!!

I'll admit it. I’m fascinated with “the other side”. I’m convinced there is more to life than this physical body. My body is simply a vehicle for my soul, or my energy, or my essence - use whatever word you like. I really believe that when it dies, I’m going to do everything I can to come back and haunt my children. (Just kidding, only my husband.) But will I? Can I? Is it possible? Wouldn’t it be cool to connect with our loved ones who have passed? I think it’s possible. And if you stick around, I’ll share the secrets of how I’ve done it before.

First of all, unless you already know you have the gift, it will take some practice to get good at this. Understand, you can’t just light some candles, cross your legs and dial up the dead, it takes practice to raise your vibrational frequency. Lots of practice.

We are all composed of atoms & molecules. They vibrate at a particular frequency and follow the Law of Vibration, which states, energy is constantly moving, vibrating, and shifting into various forms and we are no exception. When we exist in this physical form, we vibrate at a much lower frequency than our deceased loved ones. Therefore, when I raise my frequency, moving closer to my natural, energetic form, then I create the ability to connect with the other side. You know that expression “Meet me Halfway”? Well, this is what I think of. The spirit on the other side lowers their frequency and I raise mine. This allows us to connect. And it’s a beautiful thing.

"But Marisa, what does raise your frequency mean? What does it feel like? How do I know I did it?"

Good question! For me, when I raise my frequency, I become super sensitive. I can feel my whole body tingling and I can actually begin to sense waves of energy all around me - other frequencies. Now I know I am ready to connect to the other side. So how do I shift my vibration - my frequency?

Tip #1 Visualization

First, I visualize myself surrounded by a white cocoon of protection. Think of it as a cosmic condom. This visualization makes me feel safe and secure. Now I begin a meditation, one that will raise my frequency. I find different meditations can provide different results for people but you want one that makes you feel safe and relaxed. For this one, I start at the bottom of my feet and light up each chakra all the way to my gateway chakra which is located about 30 cm above your head. I like to envision myself traveling up to the stars, scooping up the cosmic wisdom,  and then settling back to my body. I’ll post a guided meditation for you on the website to help you with this.

Tip #2 Focus

Now that my energetic self is primed, I need to focus, and I need to nudge my ego out of the way. I imagine myself sliding to the right side of my body making room for me to communicate. If your frequency is high enough, you may already begin to grab fragments or feel additional energies through your Clairs. (Show Image again) Remember these? A clairaudient may catch a whisper, a clairvoyant may start to get pieces of an image or symbols or a clairsentient may get goosebumps. They come quickly. Remember their energy is very high. Learn to trust yourself and be patient. If I feel connected at this stage I will often ask a question and wait to see if I get any form of response.

Tip #3 Use a Photo

If I still get nothing, I’ll grab a photo of my loved one. Then I’ll clear all thoughts and concentrate on the image with soft focus. This is done by gazing at the corner of the photo and not looking directly at the person - almost a trance-like stare allowing your consciousness to expand. The more significant the image is, the easier it will be to establish a connection.  This is the one I use when connecting with my Nonno Pasquale. Again ask a question while focused on the picture. Hold your mind still. Be focused and wait. Do not let your ego answer how you believe that person would answer. This is not going to be like a phone call. It’s not a conversation with perfect sentence structure. For me it always bits and pieces and images.

Tip #4 Use an Object

If the photo doesn’t work, I’ll try holding an object or possession that was close to the person. This is called psychometry. Psychometry is a form of extrasensory perception that uses an object of the loved one. I believe that when a person wears an object for a long period of time, they transfer their vibration to the object. That energy field can then transfer knowledge of that person and when I hold it, the object helps me to connect to their frequency. The object can be a ring or piece of clothing, even a tool they used regularly and it helps me to get laser-focused, clear my mind, and wait for a message.

Don't Forget your Clairs!

So the type of message you receive will be tied to one of your psychic superpowers - the Clairs! This could clairvoyance, Clairolfaction, clairsentience… if you’re not familiar with your Clair, go watch my video called “Do you have these Psychic Superpowers?” to find yours.
Now, when attempting to connect with someone who has passed, you may not get your grandfather, you may get your grandmother instead. If this person feels light and familiar then go for it. But it’s very important to practice discernment.

Tip #5 Practice Discernment

You can’t let your thoughts and ego get in the way. This is easy to do in the beginning, especially if you really, really want to make this connection. Be aware that what you really miss is the connection to the physical form, the touching and holding and kissing - but that’s not what’s going to happen. This is an energetic connection. You will feel the warmth and the love. It’s amazing, but you can also connect with someone feeling extremely cranky or angry. Do not be scared, simply ask them to leave. Some beings have not connected with Source energy yet and you don’t need to talk to those, simply push them away. I never listen to messages that are not coming from the light. (We'll do another post on how to assist those beings into the light).

I love making connections to the other side. It’s one of my favorite things. When I make a connection it is such an exciting and exhilarating feeling. When I’m done, my energy is so high I need to take some time to bring myself back into the physical realm. It’s hard for me to concentrate, or even hold a conversation, so be benevolent with yourself, you will come down naturally.

So remember, if you want to connect with a loved one who has passed practice on raising your vibrational frequency. The first step is to believe. Understand we are all these towers of energy transmitting thoughts and feelings throughout the universe. Become familiar with your clairs to tame this psychic superpower or yours. Meditate, push your ego mind aside, and if you want a little help, concentrate on a photo or an object, and then enjoy your connection. Don’t forget to say hi for me.

COVID-19 has drastically changed everyday routines for billions of people around the world. While each household’s situation is unique, that change of routine is something we all have in common. Those major changes can be challenging (if not overwhelming), but if you commit to making the right adjustments, you can stay positive and thrive through the pandemic. And who knows, maybe you will pick up some new habits and create new circumstances for yourself that you prefer once the pandemic is over.

To help you get some ideas flowing, here are a few responsibilities that you can’t ignore during the pandemic, along with some areas where you can make changes that benefit you and those around you:

Must-Do’s During COVID-19

There are some tasks that need to be fulfilled despite a worldwide pandemic going on. However, you will likely need to tweak how you do them in order to stay safe and healthy. This might include wearing a face mask, abiding by social distancing guidelines, washing your hands, and using a disinfectant.

For instance, since everyone needs food, trips to the grocery store are essential, but you want to make sure you limit how often you go. Also, if you have urgent medical appointments, you don’t want to miss them, and you don’t want to miss work if your employer is still open in a physical location.

Moving homes is another task that often cannot wait. And even though the real estate industry has changed how they do things, Redfin explains that technology makes it possible to buy a home in the COVID-19 era. Through virtual open houses, video chat tours, and 3D walkthroughs, you can still see tours of homes all across the country.

Career

If you’ve been laid off or had your hours cut, you are probably in a position where you need to find solutions fast. Evaluate your interests and skills, and look into doing freelance work. Online job boards are a great place to get your name out there, and companies use these sites to find qualified workers across a wide range of industries. You might even like freelancing more than your previous job, or find an opportunity to start a new career.

Fitness

Since they are nonessential businesses, fitness centers across the country have shut their doors for the time being. If you are used to working out around people, it can be hard to get motivated to exercise at home. But the truth is there are a lot of workouts you can do from home, many of which are free. And if you make space or even build a home gym, you could find that you prefer the convenience of exercising in the comfort of your own home.

Diet

Eating habits are something else that could easily fall to the wayside during the pandemic if you’re not careful. But take this opportunity to try new methods of getting healthy food. As Verywell Fit points out, there are many grocery and meal delivery services to choose from, and a lot of restaurants have embraced delivery services as the new norm. Of course, if you need immediate groceries, going to the market yourself might be your only option. Even so, find a store that offers curbside pickup.

There’s no getting around the fact that COVID-19 has made life harder for a lot of people. But there may be a silver lining in certain areas of your life once you make some adjustments. Just be sure to take all the necessary safety precautions and keep an open mind about changes in your routine, and maybe you will discover things about your new life that you prefer to the old ways.
